After the devastation caused by Hurricane Dorian in September 2019 that affected many islands of the Bahamas, there was a strong call to Action! Many organizations rallied together for search and rescue and many charities provided food, shelter, and transportation relief.
Many Bahamians whose homes were destroyed had been transported to neighboring Bahamian islands to live amongst family members, in shelters, and in temporary housing.
Lanterns of Hope members were able to organize a Humanitarian Mission to the Bahamas to ship, transport, and deliver care packages to those families affected and displaced from their homes. Our organization additionally organized a health fair where we performed medical screenings, provided first-aid, and wellness checks to the affected families and Bahamian locals.
We wish those families the best as we hope and pray that they will be able to return Home one day and Rebuild.
